Lecture with Anthony Stern

Anthonys lecture took place on the 20th feb at Konstfack. he showed two films from his earlier career and took the audience from the arts of filmmaking to glassblowing with pit stops at the psychedelic movement, medieval stained glass, the Chakra system and the drumming of Ginger Baker.

This is the part where we shove all the frames in the schools' fancy macs and edit our films together.

The Ufo club

Anthony describes his film as an attempt to recreate the atmosphere of the legendary night club. Here bands such as the pink floyd were accompanied by cutting edge light projections.

stop frame animation

Here things get photographic.
The idea is to set up primitive (hee) film stations where we can shoot stills of the glass objects.
Helping out here is Alpha female Karin Ahlin from the graphic department. Animation gets her swinging.

monkey can blow

Participants spend two or three evenings blowing glass to be used in the films. The blowing is overseen by Konsfack's resident glassblower Reino Bjork and his team of tame primates.

Lecture by Anthony stern FRIDAY 20TH FEB 1PM

Filmaker turned glass blower Anthony Stern will get the workshop started with his film Sanfrancisco.
Shot in 1968 using stop fame and time exposure techniques the film is a visual overload of images. Cut to a rare version of interstellar overdrive by the pinkfloyd, the film is an attempt to create a psychedelic documentary. Combining documentary footage in a kaleidoscopic style the film aims to create a state of free association in the viewer.

Ant will also talk about his recent works in glass.
